Keeping Our Workers Safe & Protected Amidst A Pandemic

Our workers at SQ 1 development play a vital role in the growth and success of our business, and it is our responsibility to ensure that their health and well-being is protected during such uncertain times.

We firmly believe that progress and prosperity are only possible when people work in a clean and pleasant environment – and it’s the same principle that has ensured our survival throughout the years.

The hidden heroes of our company

As a commercial cleaning company, our business serves a diverse client base that includes school, banks, hotels, industrial enterprises and private residences daily.

Given the importance of living and working in clean, sanitised spaces, especially when we are amidst a pandemic – this requires intensive cleaning at premises. In that sense, our workers are often deployed to places that potentially carry dangerous germs and viruses.

To protect our workers and ensure their peace of mind while conducting their day-to-day tasks, we have taken additional steps to equip them with the know-how and tools to stay safe during this period.

Our workers deserve to work in a safe environment

As valued employees of SQ 1 Development, all our janitors are provided with free portable hand sanitisers to use during and after work, as well as 3-ply surgical face masks.

Additional steps have been taken to also protect our elderly workers (those above 60 years old) who might be more susceptible to viruses, such as being assigned lower-risk jobs that are more suitable to their physical condition and deploying them to job sites with lesser exposure to the public.

Being a company that values the use of advanced technology, we also regularly replace old cleaning machines to ensure that they are lightweight, easy-to-use and convenient for our elderly workers. Examples include our floor scrubber robot, vacuum robot and automated glass cleaning robots.

We also rigorously monitor our janitors’ Trace Together app and have installed the Tersano (SAO water dispenser) on-site as it is the safer, proven way to eliminate the COVID-19 virus in one minute. Workers who have allergies or sensitivities will not have to worry about being exposed to toxins as compared to the traditional multi-purpose chemical.

Our managers are also playing their part to pay special attention to our janitors’ health – should any of them develop any flu symptoms or difficulty breathing, they are advised to seek immediate medical attention with one of our company appointed clinics (Raffles Medical) and stay home to minimise contact with others.

Should any of our workers need to conduct a swab test, our company will also bear the expenses for them. Our managers will also brief janitors and keep them updated on the ways to protect themselves against viruses – for instance, washing their hands frequently, how to properly wear a face mask and put on gloves while carrying out their day-to-day duties. To help them improve their efficiency and upgrade themselves, we also regularly send them for courses to take up new skill sets.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about many changes in the industry and the way we conduct our day-to-day tasks. Especially in such uncertain times, the health and safety of both our clients and our workers are equally important.

As the government continues to release new advisory and regulation changes, our staff is continuously updated and trained to keep them aware and safe during their time with us.

Our reputation is built on being a reliable partner for a range of cleaning and integrated facility services to home care solutions including professional office cleaning services. With that in mind, SQ 1 Development will continue to execute our mission of providing clean and well-maintained spaces that inspire people to do more work with better efficiency.
